BOQ highlights and Excel export from government tenders
A BOQ is the bill of quantities — item-wise quantities used to estimate a government tender. Typing it from a PDF is slow and error-prone. Where the notice includes a usable BOQ, TenderChief pulls highlights into the WhatsApp brief and, on Pro, a clean Excel export. Treat it as a first-pass takeoff and verify quantities on the official document.

What is a BOQ in a government tender?
The bill of quantities lists items, units and quantities the buyer wants: cameras, cable, civil items, medical units and so on. Estimators use it to build a quote. On GeM and state portals the BOQ may be a spreadsheet, a scanned table, or buried in the NIT.
How does TenderChief extract BOQ highlights?
When the notice has a usable list, we surface the main lines in the 1-page dossier — enough to see scope and start a margin sketch. We do not invent quantities. If the source BOQ is a scan or incomplete, highlights may be limited and the brief will not pretend otherwise.
Can I export BOQ to Excel?
Pro Contractor plans include one-click BOQ Excel downloads for matching tenders. That is for your estimation sheet, not a bid upload file. Enterprise can add drawing and spec analysis for larger teams.
Should I still verify quantities on the official document?
Always. A missed line or unit change in a corrigendum can wreck a quote. Use TenderChief BOQ as a first pass, then lock quantities from the official GeM or state file before you submit.
Questions people ask
- Is BOQ Excel available on Starter?
- Starter includes BOQ highlights in the daily WhatsApp summary. One-click Excel export is on Pro. See homepage pricing for plan differences.
- Do you extract BOQ from every GeM bid?
- Only where the notice includes a usable bill of quantities. Scanned or missing BOQs cannot be turned into a reliable Excel file. The brief will still carry EMD, eligibility and deadlines when those are stated.
- Can I upload the Excel as my GeM bid?
- No. The export is for estimation. Submit on the official portal in the format GeM or the state portal requires, under your own digital signature.
